10 week appointment... or so I thought!

Monday, July 11 I had my next appointment. My blood pressure was good and I was excited because I thought I was going to get the genetic/gender screening done.

At the ultrasound both babies were measuring smaller than what my original due date says they should be measuring. There were both measuring in 8 weeks with heart rates in the 190s. Because of that I could not get the blood work done since I have to be at least 10 weeks along. I now have to wait until my next appointment on Aug 8.

It was confirmed the twins are identical and they were said to be mono/di....meaning there is a membrane separating them within the sac and it is the safest way to carry identical twins.  My doctor saw the membrane during the abdominal ultrasound.

I was also told that I will begin seeing a specialist for extra monitoring on the twins. That appointment is set up for Aug. 1.

June 30

I had my follow up from the hospital today. Everything is good! Both babies have heart rates in the 170's... so that is making me think girls!

ER

Early on I was having some spotting every few days but nothing to be concerned about. Sunday, June 26 though I did get concerned. It was more than my usual and I had lower pain to go with it. We headed to the ER at 10:30pm. Long story short everything was good. Told I needed 24 hours of bed rest and was finally sent home at 1:30am. I needed to schedule a follow up with my doctor that week.

First sono

June 22 we went in for our first ultrasound. They called us in early because their machine had gone out so they were going quickly getting people in.

I went straight back with a tech. Soon after it started she said "Do you see what I see?" At that point I did think I saw what she saw! 2 babies! We found out we were having twins. Both had heart rates in the 130s and were both measuring 6 weeks. Many many many emotions were felt that day and the coming weeks but happiness and excitement are the most common ones. Twins make all the risks even higher so I will be watched closer and have ultrasounds every time I go in.

First Doctor appointment

June 15 I had my first appointment. It was just a regular intro appointment. Gave me information, talked about the do and don'ts, payments and set up my next appointment the following week. It was going to be my first ultrasound.

Baby Blog

We found out I was pregnant on June 1. Took a test earlier and thought it was a negative. I threw it away then looked at it a few days later and saw another line. Thought it could be faulty since its been over 24 hours since I took it so decided to test again and sure enough it was positive. It was my last week of school and I had been feeling tired and hot.
